FAQ
Q: What kinds of cryptocurrency can we take?
A: Giving Block facilitates the transfer and sale of over 70 registered cryptocurrencies which account for 99% of the cryptocurrency marketplace.
Q: Does a crypto gift need a gift agreement?
A: Yes. As we develop the processes around this new way of giving, a gift agreement will allow us to tie the transaction with the donor intent.
Q: Can we hold the crypto for a day/a month/a year?
A: No. Giving Block will immediately liquidate the cryptocurrency and transfer the funds to UC Davis.
Q: Can a donor use cryptocurrency for a gift involving premiums with a fair market value (for example event tickets or licensed seating)?
A: No, because Giving Block receipts the donors immediately we are not able to accept cryptocurrency for any gifts with benefits associated.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Giving Block takes a 4% fee from each transaction. Once the funds reach UC Davis, they are subject to campus policies and fees.
Q: OMG my donor signed their gift agreement and is ready to give their crypto TODAY! What should I do?
A: Congratulations! Go ahead and fill out our Stock Transfer Form like you would if your donor was giving shares of stock, and get that agreement in GREAT!
