Givzey FAQ
Q: What is Givzey
A: Givzey is a platform that DEVAR employees can use to generate digital pledge forms for their donors. Givzey will allow a development officer to generate a pledge form electronically and instantly send it to the donor. When the form is completed by the donor, pledge documentation will then be automatically sent to Advancement Services to process the pledge.
Q: Why are we implementing Givzey?
A: We want to make it easier for our fundraising staff to record pledges to allocations that already exist. This creates a better experience for our donors and all development staff involved. Advancement Services requires donor confirmation to book a pledge and Givzey allows these ‘easy’ pledges to be confirmed and recorded in a streamlined fashion.
Q: When should I use Givzey?
A: If your donor is ready to book a pledge to an existing allocation, Givzey is an ideal option! Advancement Services reviewed top allocations for units to receive pledges so many of your popular allocations will already be available in Givzey. Givzey is also a great option when your donor is ready to establish a pledge but not immediately make their first payment. Our online giving site is better for donors who want to establish a pledge and immediately make their first payment. And good news! Pledges for donor advised fund (DAF) gifts can now be booked using the Givzey Letter of Intent “LOI” option. This LOI template uses non-binding pledge language that is appropriate for DAF
pledges.
Q: When should I NOT use Givzey?
A: When a gift agreement is required (see the guidelines here ) then do not use Givzey. Request your gift agreement via Aggie Accord. Complex gifts such as bequest expectancies and real estate should always be handled via gift agreements.
When your donor is making a one-time outright gift, other methods of giving, such as our online giving website, are your best options.
Givzey can only be used for certain active allocations, so if a donor is creating a new fund, Givzey is not an option.
Additionally, if your donor is not sure about the terms of their pledge such as timing and number of payments then it might be best to wait to generate a Givzey pledge form until more details are finalized.
If you are unsure if Givzey is the right tool for you, email DEVARhelpdesk@ucdavis.edu.
Q: I keep seeing LOI being referenced? Are we supposed to use Givzey for LOIs?
A: We are provisioning access to Givzey mirror Aggie Accord access. This means that development staff beyond development officers will be able to support generating pledge forms via Givzey. You will log in via your UC Davis SSO. You can access the Givzey platform here.
Q: How do I adjust the allocations that are available for my unit?
A: Please send a note to DEVARHelpdesk@ucdavis.edu with the allocations you would like to add or remove. We’ll confirm if they are eligible to be used on Givzey and let you know when they are added. You can expect a 5-day turnaround.
Q: How will my donors be reminded of their commitments initiated via Givzey?
A: Pledges secured using Givzey will be included in the typical pledge reminder data that is supplied to your unit from Advancement Services. We will not be utilizing the pledge reminder function within Givzey.
Q: Do I need to tell Advancement Services when a donor is using Givzey?
A: You do not need to send an extra note to the Service Desk with the documentation after your donor has submitted. The Gifts Team will get a copy of the pledge documentation when it is completed by the donor, and will then enter the new pledge into GREAT for unit review and acceptance.
Q: How can I get help with Givzey?
A: We will update this area of our website with our Givzey FAQs, the recorded trainings, and any other documentation. If you have any specific questions, please contact us at DEVARHelpdesk@ucdavis.edu
